Orvis is a retailer that specializes in fly-fishing gear and other outdoor equipment. Founded in 1856, the company is the oldest American mail-order retailer and has around 80 retail locations in the US and the UK.
In 2020, Orvis first approached Pro AV to explore digital communications solutions and most recently, Pro AV was tasked with installing digital signage with video conferencing and content sharing capabilities for the Orvis flagship store in Manchester, NH.
Project Overview
The objectives of the project were to install multiple digital signage stations with 65” Planar screens, a Crestron AirMedia presentation system for wireless casting, and a Poly Studio x30 video bar and Crestron button bar for videoconferencing capabilities.
One of the biggest challenges for the project was managing expectations about the project timeline, as global supply chain disruptions led to the limited availability of components and longer lead times to deliver those components.
Another challenge involved the project space itself, as it was important for Pro AV to minimize disruptions during installation and maintain the aesthetic style of the flagship store when the installation was complete.
Our Solution
As the only contractor working directly with Orvis, Pro AV managed the coordination of the product vendors, who each played an integral role in equipment set-up.
Pro AV’s experienced team overcame the major supply chain hurdles imposed by the pandemic to install a fully functional system with tilting wall mounts, sliding shelves, and discreet connection panels. The team was also able to accommodate multiple input interfaces for equipment, including LAN ports and standard audio/video connections with a Liberty ring.
In the end, Pro AV delivered a digital communications and signage solution that exceeded expectations and seamlessly blended into Orvis’s beautiful flagship store.
