A trip to the salon is all about being pampered and walking out feeling like a movie star. Now Amazon has integrated technology to take the salon experience to a whole new level of indulgence. Debuting in London, the over 1,500 square foot, two-floor Amazon Salon will be trialing the latest technology in the hair and styling industry.
In this innovative salon format, clients are able to virtually experiment with new hair colors using Augmented Reality technology to see what a color will look like before making a hair color commitment. Fire tablets at each station provide entertainment to clients while they are being transformed by their stylist, and a dedicated creative area allows them to capture their new look. For the shoppers, Point-and-Learn technology lets customers view product information, pricing and even videos by simply pointing at the item of interest on a shelf. If they decide to purchase the product, they can simply scan the available QR code to order on Amazon and have the merchandise shipped directly to their home.
The salon’s opening follows the launch of the Amazon Professional Beauty Store on Amazon.co.uk. The site offers thousands or professional beauty products and provides benefits such as wholesale pricing and invoicing, no minimum order value, fast delivery and more.
Initially, and in typical Amazon fashion, Amazon Salon will only be open to Amazon employees before opening bookings to the general public in the coming weeks.
